Cyber Security

Cyber Security

Computer security is the protection of computer systems and networks from the theft of or damage to their hardware, software, or electronic data, as well as from the disruption or misdirection of the services they provide.

Components of Cyber Security are

  • Application Security: It encompasses measures or countermeasures that are taken during an application’s development process to protect it from threats that can come through flaws in the app design, development, deployment, upgrade, or maintenance.

  • Information security: It is related to the protection of information from unauthorized access to avoid identity theft and to protect privacy.

  • Network Security: It includes activities to protect the usability, reliability, integrity, and safety of the network.

  • Disaster Recovery Planning: It is a process that includes performing risk assessment, establishing priorities, developing recovery strategies in case of an attack.

India has a very high level of internet penetration, and that’s why cybersecurity is critical not just for our country but for the entire world. When we are surfing or paying money to someone through e-commerce, we need cybersecurity in every aspect of work when working on the web.

Companies that deal with safeguarding information relating to national security, health, or financial records, need to take steps to protect their sensitive business and personnel information. It can be achieved through the use of Cyber Security.

There is a different form of Cyberattacks like viruses, Malware, spyware, phishing, ransomware, fraud, etc. Hackers can easily gain illegal access to other computer systems if we click on suspicious links. They have a variety of tools that can harm or infect the computer through which they can steal valuable information or make illegal transactions in your name. The government has also taken some steps to improve the cybersecurity of India through National cybersecurity policy 2013 and launched cyber Swachhta Kendra in 2017.

The 26/11 and the 9/11 crimes also happened due to the lack of cybersecurity and during the Cambridge Analytica Scandal, so many things got affected by the breach of personal information of citizens. It leads to the supply of our personal information such as our preferences, personal details, the websites we visit, and most importantly our bank details to the people who want to use it for their own gains.

It is not only the government's responsibility but also the citizens to spread awareness among the people to always update your system to the latest anti-virus so that our system remains malware and virus-free.

We all as individuals organizations have to learn how to safeguard our experience of using the internet and eliminate cybercrime.
