Encryption of Data
Encryption of Data, Leads to secure Data
In the digital era, security and safety of information delivered digitally are a must for which encryption technology is used.
Data encryption is a security method where information is encoded and can be assist assessed or decrypted by a user with correct encryption key ciphertext it appears scrambled or unreadable to a person without permission so that information remains secure.
Data encryption is useful for protecting sensitive data from negligent parties. An important mechanism is the line of defense cybersecurity is created and encrypts the data. Data encryption software is also known as an encryption cipher.
Types of Encryption
Symmetric Encryption – In Symmetric Encryption there is only one key and all communicating parties use the same key for encryption and decryption. A SECRET KEY is used for one to one sharing
Asymmetric Encryption- Public Key Cryptography uses two linked keys – one private and one public. Public Key and Private Key is used for encryption and decryption. One key is used for encrypted and the second key is used for decryption. The private key is kept private and the Public Key is shared publicly.
Purpose of Data Encryption
1 Protect confidential data – Encryption is used to protect confidential data which is stored and transferred digitally. Public Key and Private key is used to encrypt and decrypt the data safely.
2 Protect business for hacking –
In the digital era, Cybercrime is Increasing day by day. Many hackers, hack the data, and information regarding the business plans, confidential reports which can be misused for their benefits.
3 Regulations – Many regulations requires encrypted data. Many companies handle user data to keep data encrypted. Example of regulatory and compliance standards that requires encryption includes HIPPA, FCPA, etc
4 Protect from Ransomware
Ransomware is a type of malicious software cybercriminal use to block you from accessing your own data. Although encryption is designed to protect your data, it may also be used as a threat.
Attackers deploy ransomware to attempt to encrypt various devices and servers. They often demand ransom to decrypt back. Ransomware attackers mainly target large organizations and government servers but can also target personal computers as well for their personal and financial gain.
So, encryption is required for secure data and as well we must protect our devices from ransomware by installing and updating the required software.
