Remote Working: A new normal
Remote Working: A new normal
The novel Coronavirus destroyed everything in a matter of days and social distancing became the new norm. Many people lost their lives, some lost their loved ones. It all went berserk in a matter of days. Here, Remote Working came to action.
Well, of course, you’re going to have a disrupted work-life balance and a myriad of mental health issues due to social distancing. We are social animals and have a strong desire to meet and connect with people face-to-face.
On the other hand, recently Microsoft has decided to expand its work-from-home policy and made it permanent for some workers. A survey conducted by Awfis, the leading co-working space provider, indicates that an average Indian working professional saves approximately 1.47 hours of travel time and Rs 5,520 per month while working from your home space. Companies also reported greater productivity & performance after months of employees working remotely.
As the restrictions are being slackened off, the question which arises in the mind of everyone is whether they will be able to return to work or is the phenomenon – work from home is here to stay.
Companies have to find that grey line in between in which they can operate efficiently and put the hybrid working style in place. Even we as individuals need to blend in this transformation process and help people around us in any way possible or else the economy will take a hit even worse than where it is right now.
Rather than viewing this as a problem to be solved and cribbing about it, let’s think of it as an opportunity to cultivate a new skill or a hobby which you always wanted to indulge in because it seems like remote working is here to stay.
Life is short, life is full of pain, but regardless of that- we as humans are capable of so many things that are latent even to us. This too shall pass.
