With the advancements in medical sectors, the blood requirements have augmented whereas most of the blood donors are volunteers who give their blood for social purposes. It differ country to country like some have standard supplies and a few have limited supply where donors mostly donate blood when family or relatives need a transfusion (directed donation). Many donors perform it for the charity, some countries pay the donors for blood donation, and in limited cases paid day off from work provided as an incentive. The peoples having good capabilities to donate blood are examined for everything that could turn their blood uneven to further process. The steps include checking for diseases that can be spread through a blood transfer, like HIV and hepatitis. The medical history is also inquired of the donor and also has to go through the medical examination for cross verification of health and safety. Every country has different laws regarding blood donation so it differs that how often blood can be donated by a regular donor who could vary with days or months. In the present medical world Transfusion of blood is an important step of the advanced health care system. India's first blood bank started operating in 1942 at All India Institute of Hygiene & Public Health, Calcutta (West Bengal). There is a proper society to collect blood from the blood bank, moreover, there are mobile teams also which collects from outside routinely and held a blood donation campaign in different parts. In our lives, we definitely have seen situations that demand prompt action and we have taken but this is the thing that requires time to think for the humanity by putting ourselves in the shoes of the needy person. There is a lot of misunderstanding in people about blood donation and it would be better to clear those clouds of haze. Be ready to take responsibility as a citizen of this country.
