GREEN CLOUD COMPUTING

 GREEN CLOUD COMPUTING

Cloud computing is a highly scalable and cost-effective infrastructure for running HPC, enterprise, and Web applications. It is evident that with the growth of high-speed networks over the last decades, there is an alarming rise, that can be observed in its usage comprised of thousands of concurrent e-commerce transactions and millions, and sometimes even billions of Web queries a day. This ever-increasing demand is handled through large-scale datacentres, which consolidate hundreds and thousands of servers with other infrastructures such as cooling, storage, and network systems. Many internet companies such as Google, Amazon, eBay, and Yahoo are operating such huge datacentres all around the world.

“Green Cloud computing: A concept that’s Prevalent since classic era!”

-Unknown

Cloud computing has turned out to become an essential infrastructural demand for a modern organization for several reasons covering scalability and cost-effectiveness features. However, cloud computing and it’s ever-growing demand has also resulted in elevated energy consumption levels, which has speedily put the writing in bold about the fatal future that the environment faces due to an elevated carbon footprint. As more and more data centers are added to the organizational realms, they’ll require thousands of servers and other necessary materials to enable their full-fledged operation on a large scale

Since it leads to severe environmental damages, the concept of green cloud computing seems befitting to such future scenarios. The much modern concept that it is, coupled with the reduction of energy and power consumption has become a first-order objective in the design of modern computing systems.  The term “green computing” was introduced to refer to energy-efficient personal computers.

What is green cloud computing?

Green cloud computing involves designing, producing, and using digital spaces in a manner to reduce their impact on the environment. A green cloud solution can not only save energy but significantly reduce enterprise operational costs.

Green cloud computing allows users to utilize the benefits of cloud storage while decreasing its adverse effects on the environment, ultimately affecting human well-being. It includes the following practices:

  1. Green design: The cloud infrastructure design covers energy-efficient services, computers, software applications, and other devices that consume reduced energy than its counterparts.

  2. Green production: The cloud infrastructure generates less waste during recycling expeditions resulting in a more sustainable environment.

  3. Green usage: It reduces the amount of energy produced when using a cloud-based product by a 27% margin.

Green Cloud computing: Ways in which it is beneficial for your business as well as the environment:

  • Works on Energy Conservation!

  • Helps You Go Paperless!

  • To help us realize the age-old dream of making our planet go green

Some notable features of green cloud computing :

  • Dynamic Provisioning:  dynamically changing the infrastructure as per need

  • Multi-tenancy: serve multiple companies on the same infrastructure and software.

  • Low Server Utilization: dramatically reduces the number of active servers.

  • Datacenter Efficiency: advanced power management are deployed
