 HINDI

Hindi is an Indo-Aryan language spoken mostly in India. Modern  Hindi is a standardized version of the Hindustani language which itself is based on the Khariboli dialect. It is one of the two official languages of  India along with English and also it is one of the 22 scheduled languages of India. It is written in Devanagari script. Hindi with more than 260 million speakers around the world is the fourth most spoken language in the world after Mandarin, Spanish and English. Hindi along with Urdu constitute Hindustani language which is the third-largest spoken language in the world after Mandarin and English.

Hindi is mostly used in India. Outside India, it is spoken in Nepal,  Mauritius, Uganda, Trinidad and Tobago, Guyana, Fiji, South Africa, etc. Besides this, it is also spoken and being understood in various other countries like the United State of America, Pakistan, Afghanistan,  United Arab Emirates, Germany, etc where people from Indian origin had migrated, or Hindustani origin community (who speaks Urdu or  Hindi). In India, it is predominantly being spoken in the Northern region i.e. in the states of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh,  Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Madhya Pradesh, Delhi, etc.

Outside India, several other languages are recognized as Hindi which is not the same as Standard Hindi language which is the official language of  India but instead those are derived from other dialects of Hindi such as Awadhi and Bhojpuri. Example of these includes Fiji Hindi which is the official language of Fiji, Caribbean Hindustani which is spoken in

Trinidad and Tobago, Guyana. Hindi is actually mutually intelligible  with Standard Urdu as both are derivative of the Hindustani language.

Hindi is mainly descended from early Vedic Sanskrit. Before Hindi became standardized, it attained prominence through literature as  Awadhi and Braj Bhasa. Hindi has also taken many words from  Persian and Arabic languages after the arrival of Islamic rule in India.  Bihar was the first state of India to accept Hindi as its official language by replacing Urdu.

In 1949, Beohar Rajendra Simha along with some other people,  debated in parliament for making Hindi an Official Language of  India. Thus, on 14 September 1949, on the 50th birthday of Beohar  Rajendra Sharma, Hindi became the official language of India. Now,  every year on 14 September, Hindi day is celebrated. In 1954, the Indian government set up a committee to prepare grammar for the Hindi language which was released in 1958 as ‘A basic Grammar of Modern  Hindi’.

Nowadays, the scope of the Hindi language is increasing at a rapid rate.  Numerous network applications, apps, etc are now available in Hindi.  People in different parts of the world have started learning Hindi as it is gaining popularity day by day. Bollywood films have really created a great impact on the world and helped Hindi to be recognized all over the world. Many news agencies, bloggers, advertisers have now turned towards Hindi as they find better market opportunities in it.
