 Sanskrit




It is a language of Aryans of ancient India with a very long history. This is the main language of Hinduism and most of the Hindu philosophy works including Buddhism and Jainism are in Sanskrit. It is known as the high standard language. It has significance with Greek and Latin languages. In history, the 2nd millennium BCE Rigveda is in Sanskrit, and more cultured Sanskrit consists of Astadhyayi of Panini. Sanskrit known in many forms is the root language of many “Prakrit language” namely Kumaon, Hindi, Marathi, Bengali, Garhwali, Odia, Assamese, Urdu, Dogri. It is one of the 22 languages enlisted in the constitution of India. According to Dalai Lama, the Sanskrit language is a mother language of many modern languages of India and the language which upheld Indian values to other countries. Though the language could not survive and after the 1st century, the decline started as the Islamic invasion gave rise to Muslim rule as sultanates and then the Mughal Empire. The reason is still not cleared that when the Sanskrit pass away and scholar are divided on that, but presently the situation is not different than prior, the language is still not at par though Uttarakhand in 2010 became the 1st state in India to acknowledge Sanskrit its 2nd official language, followed by Himachal Pradesh.

Sanskrit is the pious language for Hindu, Buddhism, and Jainism tradition and is used in temples. All Hindu rituals cannot be considered without the Sanskrit language, it is considered as the nearest language to god. We still have Gurukulas throughout India where Sanskrit is taught and CBSE of India and state board education have the option of learning Sanskrit for classes from 5th to 8th. W Indians never stopped using the language but it is the influence of another language that totally ceased it. It is the language that NASA titles to be the most appropriate language to use in computer programming.
