ART IS A MYSTERY
ART IS A MYSTERY
What is the most difficult thing to do? Well, for most of us, it is to take a good decision on selecting an appropriate outfit for an occasion. It is all about those questions which keep on bothering you are you too overdressed or underdressed?'
THE NEW TREND
Fashion and style are a new impression. People do judge you based on your outfits and of course the match between your clothes and footwear. But it's not about mere judgment from the people; styling up makes you feel more comfortable and confident.
INNOVATION IS THE NEED
I was scrolling down different designer's work, just to get a rough idea about what is in trend. I found my 'love at first sight' on the dress, which was a work of a designer named DikshitaHiran, it was a part of her collection titled ‘Fumacious’. Her work was inspired by an art technique 'Fumage'.
She had created designs from impressions of smoke on the fabric, which looks classy and elegant, perfect subtle dress to carry, which is unique and indeed a masterpiece of art.
TRACE THE HISTORY
Fumage art is a surrealist art technique that was propounded by Wolfgang Paalen. This art form is mainly about creating impressions from the smoke emitted by candles, kerosene lamps, etc. On a piece of paper or canvas; His first work was created with the help of a candle and was highly lauded by people. His art piece was also displayed in the International Surrealist Exhibition in London in 1936. He didn't stop here, further he painted artwork from oil on the fumage. This technique was followed by many other artists such as Alberto Burri, Burhan Doğançay, Jiri Georg Dokoupil, etc.
HOW TO USE A FUMAGE TECHNIQUE?
Every art form has its own specialty and unique style. Though, one can easily learn the basics with the help of tutorial videos. (It is recommended to take up a course and learn the art step by step.)So this how you can create your own piece of art with the help of the fumage technique -
☆ collect the things you need, such a paper or a canvas, a lighter, a candle or kerosene lamp, a drawing pencil, a table cloth, and a fire extinguisher.
☆ Draw a rough sketch of the picture you want to make.
☆ Hold the canvas sheet in one hand and the other hand will be used for handling the candle.
☆ light up to candles, one will be used as a backup for relighting the candle being used.
☆ Move the lit candle below the sheet and one can observe several shapes forming on the paper.
☆tilt the paper in various angles, move the candle in different motions to get an impactful art piece.
☆ Blow out the candle let the emitted smoke do the wonders.
GOLDEN TIPS
One can use slender candles.
Using longer wick-length candles can help in getting a soothing design.
Using a short wick-length candle can result in a firm and dark-shaded piece of art.
Don't keep any flammable objects near the workplace.
One can wear protective glasses and a mask.
Do keep a fire extinguisher, as a small carelessness can result in a big thing.
CONCLUSION
It is important to appreciate every form of art, as each has its own meaning. Keep learning. Keep growing.
