Golf is a club-and-ball sport in which players use various clubs to hit balls into a series of holes on a course in as few strokes as possible.
A golf ball teaches us that size doesn’t matter. Even being small, it is used in a game only afforded by rich people. Size never defines your value but your performance does!
Why it is called golf?
The word golf was first mentioned in writing in 1457 on a Scottish statute on forbidden games as gouf, possibly derived from the Scots word goulf (variously spelled) meaning "to strike or cuff". This word may, in turn, be derived from the Dutch word kolf, meaning "bat" or "club", and the Dutch sport of the same name.
History of Golf
There is no such history of golf as the origins of golf are unclear and much debated. However, it is generally accepted that modern golf developed in Scotland from the middle ages onwards. The game did not find international popularity until the late 19th century when it spread into the rest of the United Kingdom and then to the British Empire and the United States.
As it is the game of rich persons so there is a person named Tiger Wood, Woods' winnings representing a fraction of his overall earnings. He is considered the richest golfer, and one of the richest athletes, of all time.
Why Golf is so expensive?
Simply, due to high price equipment. The first reason why golf is considered an expensive sport is the price of golf equipment that is quite expensive. The price of one of the cheapest golf clubs can reach 1 million more.
Some general facts about golf
And apart from this all do you know that golf has 18 holes to play, and golf is considered a waste of time. The conventional wisdom is that it takes about 4 hours to play 18-holes of golf. The average golfer wastes around 76 hours or 3.2 days playing golf every year.
