Gujrati language is the language that is majorly spoken in the state Gujrat.

History of Gujrati Language

Gujrati language is one of the totals twenty two languages are recognized by the constitution of India.

Gujarati, also known as Gujarathi, is a member of the Indo-Aryan branch of the Indo-European language family. Its closest relatives are Hindi and Punjabi. The first grammar of a precursor of Gujarati was written in the 12th century.

It is estimated that it is spoken as a first language by 45.7 million people in India, primarily in the state of Gujarat, and worldwide by 46.6 million people.

There is a form of dance which is known as “GARBA”. Garba is derived from the Sanskrit term ‘Garbha’ Deep ("small earthenware lamp).

Much traditional garbage is performed around centrally lit lamps or a picture or statue of the Goddess Shakti. Modern Garba is heavily influenced by the DANDIYA RAAS, usually performed by men.

Both men and women usually wear colorful costumes while performing Garba and dandiya. Garba is a Gujarati folk dance celebrated in Navratri, a celebration lasting nine nights. Garba songs typically revolve around the subjects of the nine goddesses. Garba styles vary from place to place in Gujarat.
