 Dr. SEEMA RAO   - India’s Wonder Woman

The first Indian female Combat Trainer, Seema Rao has achieved what was considered almost impossible. She challenges all stereotypes and male chauvinistic attacks to be today known as the wonder woman of India.



EARLY LIFE

Born in 1970, Seema Rao was a shy and bullied girl. Her father Professor Rampant Sinari was a freedom fighter. She pursued Medicine sciences and became a certified doctor and later pursued an MBA in crisis management.

She got married at the age of 18years to Major Deepak Rao who then became the bridge between Dr. Seema and her dreams. Fueled by her father’s struggle and supported and encouraged by her husband she too decided to devote herself to her country. 

STRUGGLES

She was determined to conquer all her fears. To overcome the fear of heights she did a mountaineering course. To overcome her fear of water she did a SCUBA deep-sea diving course. TO overcome the fear of fire she became a firefighter and for fear of seclusion, she did a Jungle survival course. 

She spent prime years of her youth in freezing altitudes, stifling deserts, dense jungles, and hostile locals.  

She has fractured almost every bone in her body, been shot by terrorists more than once, and what not,. Yet her passion to serve never faltered.

CAREER MILESTONES

  • India’s first and only woman commando trainer

  • Helped pioneer modern CQB training

  • Trained soldiers from IAF, paramilitary, and police free of monetary compensation

  • A krav maga instructor (among 12 instructors worldwide)

  • Invented Rao method of reflex shooting

  • Helped run CQB courses for Army commands in Kashmir and Assam

  • Authored encyclopedia of Close Op. Trg. And commando Manual of Combat

  • Commended with Army Chief Citation


Dr. Seema Rao has achieved not only awards and Citations but also respect and admiration all around the world. She shattered gender barriers and challenged stereotypes to be worthy of the title: Wonder Woman of India.
